East District Youth Girls

East District Youth is an organisation comprising of affiliated schools, youth and senior clubs that provides

·        age group competitions

·        the opportunity for players to receive coaching

·        to play hockey for the East of Scotland

·        and a pathway to national selection.

None of these opportunities can be offered unless willing volunteers band together to be the East Youth Committee for this purpose.

The partnership approach in Youth Sport encourages parental involvement.  Parents, teachers and other volunteers have a vital role in working with schools and clubs to deliver youth hockey in the East of Scotland.

We are seeking volunteers to be

• Girls’ Convenor,

• Vice-convenor,

• District secretary,

• Competitions organiser,

• Equipment secretary,

• Assistant Child Protection Officer

Girls Convenor assisted by the vice convenor oversees and liaises with the Competitions co-ordinator, managers and coaches of the District teams, reports to the Youth Committee at monthly meetings and submits a report to East AGM and Scottish Hockey’s Youth Forum.

District secretary organises committee meetings, takes and circulates minutes and organisers Youth AGM in March.  District secretary will be responsible for the administration of appointments ie managers and coaches, checking Disclosures status and coaching qualifications with Scottish Hockey.    No prior hockey knowledge required

Competitions organiser   Liaises with all tournament organisers to ensure venues are booked, tournament schedules and rules issued to all entrants and competition deadlines are met.  Orders all the medals required for the tournaments, arranges payment with a District cheque,

Equipment secretary liaises with team managers, keeps an up to date inventory, stores and issues the playing kit, bibs, balls and other training equipment used by the District.  No prior hockey knowledge required

Assistant Child Protection Officer Encourages good practice and support of procedures to protect children and vulnerable adults, liaises with and deputises for District CPO.  Child Protection training available from Scottish Hockey. 

Can you seriously consider volunteering for one of these vacant roles?  Should the jobs not be filled then East Youth Girls will not be able to offer the opportunity for your daughter to play in age group competitions or represent the District at Scottish inter district tournaments.
